VASOTEC® (enalapril maleate) is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension), symptomatic congestive heart failure, and asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction. VASOTEC® belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, or 'ACE inhibitors' for short. The drug in VASOTEC®, enalapril, is actually an inactive 'pro-drug', which is actived in your body after VASOTEC® is swallowed. VASOTEC® is supplied as 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg doses for oral administration.

Effective March 1, 2007, there was a change in the appearance to the tablets for VASOTEC®. There is no change to the medication in the tablets. 

USE IN PREGNANCY: When used in pregnancy during the second and third trimesters, ACE inhibitors can cause injury and even death to the developing fetus. When pregnancy is detected, VASOTEC® should be discontinued as soon as possible. See WARNINGS, Fetal/Neonatal Morbidity and Mortality.
