These state-of-the-art facilities provide Biovail with the capacity to meet the current and anticipated demand for its portfolio of products, including Wellbutrin XL®, Ultram® ER, Cardizem® LA and a number of generic products that are distributed by Teva and Forest Laboratories, Inc. STEINBACH MANUFACTURINGBiovail's main manufacturing facility in Steinbach, Manitoba facility totals approximately 250,000 square feet, In February 2005, Biovail announced a $27.6-million expansion project to further enhance the manufacturing capability of the facility. The addition of 60,000 square feet favorably impacted all areas of the site, including manufacturing, packaging, warehouse, laboratory operations and office space. This expansion project, which was completed in early 2007, is the third such enhancement of the facility since 2001. PUERTO RICO MANUFACTURINGToday, Biovail operates a single manufacturing facility in Puerto Rico that totals 35,000 square feet, including 25,000 square feet of manufacturing capacity and 10,000 square feet of additional leased warehouse space. This plant is specially constructed for the high volume production of controlled-release beads. All Biovail manufacturing facilities meet United States Food and Drug Administration-mandated and Therapeutic Products Directorate (Canada)-mandated good manufacturing practices (GMP and cGMP), and are inspected on a regular basis by these regulatory authorities. Biovail's internal auditing team monitors compliance on an ongoing basis with such standards. It performs all of the activities that are involved with owning and exploiting a substantial intellectual property portfolio. its entry into the Canadian market in 1997 (as Crystaal Corporation), BPC has
established a reputation for providing quality pharmaceutical products to
Canadian health care professionals.
BTA
Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (BTA), a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary located in
Bridgewater, NJ. The subsidiary includes administrative, product
distribution and related regulatory affairs functions. In addition to the
products directly promoted through its strategic partners, the Company also
distributes a number of branded off-patent products. These products, also known
as Legacy products, include the well-known brands Cardizem® CD, Ativan®,
Vaseretic®, Vasotec®, and Isordil in the United States. These products, for
which market exclusivity has expired, are not actively promoted by Biovail.
